Webinar cohosted by GRIPS and Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing in the Netherlands: “Thinking about the Sustainability of Elderly Care.”

GRIPS and Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing co-hosted a webinar on the sustainability of elderly care on January 20, 2022 with the generous support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The International Longevity Center-Japan also collaborated in organizing this webinar.

 

Professor Taichi Ono of GRIPS gave a lecture in which he discussed the elderly care policy in Japan, and the social affairs concerned during the COVID-19 pandemic especially the life of the elderly. In addition, Professor Tineke Abma of Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing gave a presentation on the sustainability of elderly care, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Netherlands. The webinar, which attracted about 20 participants, was moderated by Professor Tineke Abma.

 

During the discussion session, participants raised various questions about issues related to the nursing home in Japan, and the use of technology in elderly care.
