GRIPS and PCG co-hosted a webinar on Japanese foreign policy on December 15, 2021 with the generous support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Professor Yusuke Takagi of GRIPS gave a lecture entitled, “Philippine-Japan Maritime Cooperation in the Indo Pacific”, in which he discussed Japan’s “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)” policy and the importance of Japan-Philippine development cooperation in Mindanao. The webinar, which attracted about 45 participants, was moderated by Dr. Jay Tristan Tarriela, Lieutenant Commander of PCG.

During the discussion session, participants raised various questions about issues related to the influence of China in the Indo Pacific and future prospects of Japan-Philippine maritime cooperation.
