GRIPS had a training program for 10 Officials of the Office of the Council of State (OCS) of the Royal Thai Government from July 24 to July 28, 2017.
In the program, participants attended a series of lectures given by Senior Professor Masahiro Horie (Director of Executive Development Center for Global Leadership), Professor Shunsuke Kimura (Meiji University, formerly at GRIPS), Associate Professor Yasuyuki Watanabe, Professor Taichi Ono, and Deputy Director Yoshihiro Umehara from Entry and Status Division Immigration Bureau, Ministry of Justice. Through the lectures the participants learned a wide range of subjects, including Basic Japanese Government and Administrative Systems and Organizations, Local Government Administration and Local Governance, Legal System, Legislative Process and Legislative Review, Special Zones for Structural Reform, Laws and Policies for the Elderly People and Laws and Policies on Foreign Workers in Japan.
In the wrap-up session on the final day, Prof. Horie made a follow-up lecture and Q&A session was held. Many participants expressed their acknowledgement for ample content of the program. Finally, in concluding ceremony, certificate of completing the course was given to all participants.
