On July 10, 2014, GRIPS and the World Bank Group co-hosted an event titled “Dialogue with WBG President: How Can Innovation Scale Up Development?”

The event was moderated by Aiko Doden, NHK Senior Commentator, and welcomed five Japanese entrepreneurs. Dr. Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank Group and the young entrepreneurs discussed the role of innovation in development and each introduced their own examples.

The event was a great success with a variety of questions and ideas coming from the audience including students of GRIPS and other universities as well as young entrepreneurs.

Prior to the event, the GRIPS President, Takashi Shiraishi, the Program Director of Public Finance Program, Professor Kurosawa, and international students financially supported by the Joint Japan / World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program held a meeting with Dr. Kim who had kind words of encouragement for the students.
