CAMPUS Asia GRIPS-KDIS Workshop was conducted at GRIPS

A delegation of 20 students headed by Prof. Cho Dongchul from KDI School (KDIS), a partner school of the CAMPUS Asia program, Korea, visited GRIPS on August 20–21, and they attended special lectures given by GRIPS professors. The trip was part of their International Field Research and Studies, and they also participated in student exchange activities.

On August 20, the delegates visited the Tokyo headquarters of Toyota Motor Corporation in the morning and attended a special lecture given by Prof. Atsushi Sunami entitled “Japan’s New Growth Strategy and Innovation” at GRIPS in the afternoon. Professor Sunami is currently serving as Special Advisor to the Cabinet office in National Strategy, Science and Technology and Space Policy.

On the 21st, they took a field trip to Okamoto Glass. Co., Ltd., in the morning. In the afternoon, the visiting delegation spent time meeting and talking with many GRIPS students, then the students from both schools attended a special lecture given by Prof. Hisayoshi Hashimoto entitled “Active Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in Japan.” In the Q & A session following the lecture, many questions were asked by the students and there was a lively exchange of views. To wrap up the program, a GRIPS Ph.D. student gave a brief overview of GRIPS and conducted a tour of our campus. After completing all of our programs, the KDI School students left for their next destination, Kyoto.

The two-day workshop was very eventful. Since the students from both schools worked together, it was a meaningful exchange which will lead to the further development of the relationship between the two schools.
