In response to a request by the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE), GRIPS conducted a one-day training program on July 18, 2012 for the “Election visit program” under the auspices of the Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) as part of the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) Program.

The 22-member delegation, accompanied by JICE staff members, consisted of directors and staff from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Election Commission and other ministries of ASEAN and East Asian countries. The group visited GRIPS and attended lectures. Vice-President Prof. Horie gave a talk entitled “Japanese Government in Brief,” and Prof. Masuyama gave a talk entitled “Electoral Systems and Japan’s Party Politics.” The delegation visited polling places and experienced election practice and also visited the National Diet and other related places.
