Members of GRIPS' Disaster Management Policy Program Designated Recipients of 6th Japan Construction International Award

The Japan Construction International Award established by the Ministry of Transport and Tourism in 2017, become a symbol of quality infrastructure.

The award gives commendations in the following categories:

1. Construction Projects Category: overseas construction projects which demonstrate Japan's strengths.

2. SMEs category: small and medium-sized construction companies which play active and leading roles overseas.

3. Pioneering Activity Category: activities that contribute to quality infrastructure overseas, conducted by entities such as Japanese universities and other academic institutions, that have a strategic nature with a broader reach than individual construction projects.

 

The Ministry announced on June 1, 2023 that it will honor five overseas construction projects in the Construction Projects category, and two small and medium-sized construction companies in the SMEs category. This year, the 6th Japan Construction International Award will recognize two projects in the Pioneering Activity category.

 

We are honored to inform you that GRIPS' Disaster Management Policy Program (DMP) has been selected for an award in the Pioneering Activity category.

 

The GRIPS DMP is offered and operated jointly by the International Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering (IISEE) of the Building Research Institute (BRI); the International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM) of the Public Works Research Institute (PWRI); and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

 

The awards ceremony and reception will be held as follows:

 

Date: Tuesday, June 20, 2023

Award Ceremony: 15:00 to 17:15

Reception: 17:30 to 19:00

Venue: Auditorium and reception hall of Mita Conference Hall (Mita Kyoyo Kaigisyo) (Minato-ku Mita 2-1-8)

 

*At the awards ceremony, Minister Saito (planned) will present a certificate of commendation to each winner, and the winners will give presentations about their work.
GRIPS Professor Koji Katayama, DMP Director, will give a presentation during the ceremony.

*Simultaneous Japanese-English interpretation will be available during the ceremony. and the ceremony will be streamed live on YouTube, available at the links and QR codes below.
