Training of Trainer: Planning and Budgeting for BAPPENAS, Republic of Indonesia 2015

GRIPS conducted a 12-day training program for officials of the Republic of Indonesia’s National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) from November 30 to December 11, 2015. The 25 participants, selected by BAPPENAS, included BAPPENAS officials and faculty members of Indonesian universities and the Institute of Technology Bandung (related to BAPPENAS).

 

During the program, participants attended 20 lectures given by Program Director Masahiro Horie, (GRIPS Senior Professor and Director of the Executive Development Center for Global Leadership), and lectures given by GRIPS faculty members Professor Hirofumi Takada, Professor Hisayoshi Hashimoto, Professor Ikuo Shimomura, Professor Fumihiro Kabuta, Professor Hiroshi Ikawa, and Associate Professor Junya Hoshida. Lectures were also provided by Mr. Kenji Umetani, President of the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), Cabinet Office, Government of Japan; Professor Hideaki Tanaka, Meiji University; Professor Hiroshi Nagano, Guest Professor, Keio University; and Prof. Hikaru Kobayashi, Keio University.

 

Participants then took part in a workshop involving group discussion of and reflection on planning and budgeting in Indonesia. After the discussion, each group reported the outcomes of its discussion.

 

The participants also had the opportunity to visit the Tokyo Sewerage Museum (RAINBOW) and the Tokyo Water Science Museum.

 

On the final day of the training program, Professor Horie presided over a summary session. At the closing ceremony, each participant received a certificate of course completion.
