GRIPS conducted the “Thai Senior Executive Development Program (SEDP)” from July 6-July 22, 2010 in response to a request by the Office of the Civil Service Commission (OCSC) in Thailand. In this sixth year of the program, GRIPS welcomed one Provincial Governor and four Provincial Vice-governors of Thailand as participants. 

During the program, coordinated by SEDP Program Director Professor Yokomichi, the participants attended lectures given by faculty members including Prof. Ota (Vice President), Prof. Horie (Executive Advisor to the President), Prof. Ikawa, Prof. Kimura, Prof. Komatsu, and Prof. Masuyama. Professor Nagai from Osaka City University, Mr. Tsukada from the Ministry of the Environment, and Mr. Nakajima from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism also gave the lectures. The participants took a local trip to Kyoto and Nara prefecture. Then, they went to Fukui, Ishikawa, Kanazawa, Nanto, Toyota and Aichi to visit the Local Government Offices in each prefecture and city. 

They asked many questions throughout the program, showing their interest as well as their enthusiasm to learn from the Japanese local government system and its experiences. 
After the local trip, all the participants presented Action Plans describing what they will promote after returning to their respective provinces, reflecting what they learned, thought and gained through this training program.
