GRIPS had a three day training program from May 10 to May 12, 2017 in response to the request from the Centre for Innovation and Productivity in Public Administration (PIPPA), Universiti Sains Malaysia. 27 participants selected in Malaysia have attended the program with the theme “Building High Performance Organization Culture”.

In the program, participants attended lectures on organizational cultures of central & local government and private sector. Lectures were given by Program Director Masahiro Horie (GRIPS Senior Professor and Director of the Executive Development Center for Global Leadership), Mr. Maeda (Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry), Mr. Sanuki (Director of Administration Evaluation Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication), Prof.Watanabe (Associate Professor of GRIPS) and Prof.Nishihara (Assistant Professor of Rikkyo University).

Participants also had an opportunity to visit Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication (MOC). Mr.Sanuki (Director General of Administration Evaluation Bureau) kindly gave a briefing on administration reform of the government, role and activities of the bureau as well as the changes of its organizational culture. MOC officials also showed their traditional and newly designed office space so called “Free Address” office. Participants were impressed by its continuous effort to build higher performance organization culture in terms of procedures and office environment.

On the final day of the training program, Professor Horie presided over a summary session. The program was completed happily after each participants received a certificate of completion at the closing ceremony.
