Training program for Thai KPI

On November 25 and 30, GRIPS conducted training programs for Thai government officials and leaders of business sector, upon the request from King Prajadhipok’s Institute (KPI) in Thailand.

 

For the one-day program in Japan on Nov.25, we’ve provided a lecture and a site-visit related to the topic “Aging Society and Shrinking Population” which is becoming a social concern in Thailand. Participants attended a lecture entitled “The Acceleration of Aging and Shrinking Population in Japan: Society and Policy Challenges”given by Prof. Kenji Shimazaki of GRIPS.

Many questions and opinions on the aging society and social welfare issues were raised by participants. After attending the lecture, they visited Saitama City to study the situation and public services of the local government. Officials of Saitama City explained the details in the lecture room and then participants had an opportunity to visit the facilities such as Nursery school and public spaces for families with small children.

On November 30, GRIPS conducted two lectures through our distance learning system which connects professors at GRIPS in Tokyo and participants at KPI in Bangkok. For this time, participants attended the lecture entitled “Creating the Future with Knowledge-based Management and Wise Leadership”given by Prof. Ayano Hirose, Assistant Professor of Rikkyo University and another lecture entitled “Career Path and Opportunities of Leadership Development of Politicians – Case of Members of Parliament of Japan” provided by Senior Prof. Masahiro Horie, GRIPS.

During Q&A sessions, opinions were shared between professors and participants on the issues related to Leadership of women, the reputation of governor, as well as generation gap on political issues and political leaders of Japan.
