East Asian Public Sector Leadership Challenges for Thai Executives

GRIPS conducted a 3-day training program entitled the Training Program on “East Asian Public Sector Leadership Challenges” for Thai Executives (EAPSLC) from September 7-9 2009. The program was developed in response to a request from the Office of the Civil Service Committee in Thailand. GRIPS welcomed 19 promising government officials, selected by the Thai government currently in manager or assistant manager positions, or with a few years of government experience.

During the program, the participants attended lectures given by EAPSLC Program Director Professor Horie, as well as lectures given by faculty members including Professor Hara.

Along with the lectures at GRIPS, lectures given by incumbent government officials and policy makers allowed the participants to deepen their knowledge of the role of government, administration reform, anti-corruption system and measures, environment measures and public sector leadership.

In Tokyo, the participants visited the Nippon Keidanren, and the Ministry of Environment where they learned about innovations for a green economy and society, and responses to the global economic crisis.
