Purport

The social and economic situation in the world is growing ever more complex with the advance of globalization, and as a result the policy challenges of governments are also becoming more difficult and complex.

Southeast Asian countries are no exception. Until now, their economies have been developing favorably, but the emerging policy challenges call for agile government response when these countries are working to advance to the next stage of their economic development without undesirable side effects. To that end, Southeast Asian governments are currently trying a variety of innovative approaches to the building of capacity of both leaders and organizations.

In that unfolding scenario, since 2016 JICA and GRIPS have conducted the LEADING Asia project, a knowledge co-creation project, in cooperation with public organizations from Southeast Asian countries.

In this year’s forum, leaders of the member countries will share their experience through dialogue and discussion so as to develop effective approaches to innovation in the building of capacity of both leaders and organizations.
