The 3rd FPCI-GRIPS Public Forum “Get to Know Generation Y and Z: On Their Influence, Drives, and Worldviews”

 GRIPS is collaborating with FPCI (Foreign Policy Community in of Indonesia) in convening the FPCI-GRIPS Public Forum, a monthly discussion series where experts and policy makers can discuss the most pressing issues of international affairs and foreign policy with researchers and students across Southeast Asia and Japan.

 At the 3rd Forum, we will focus on the young generation called Generation Y(Millennials, born in 1980-1995) and Generation Z (born in 1996-2012).  By 2025, the combination of Generation Y and Z will create more than half of APAC consumers.  We will discuss how big their influence towards our economic, cultural and political landscape. What are their concerns and expectations from the government and international community?

- Points to be discussed;

- From the lens of generation Y and Z, how do you assess today’s global governance in responding to global challenges (pandemic, climate change, clean energy, Industry 4.0,digital economy, gender, women empowerment, etc) and the role of youth in driving change in your respective country?

- In your observation, what is the definitive role of generation Y and Z in today’s world? Where are we good at? And where are we not good at?

- In your opinion, what is the most strategic things in politics, economy, development, etc that are not seen or often overlooked by the government in your respective countries?

- What are the weaknesses of the youth that need to be developed? What can we learn from our previous generation X (1960 – 1980)?
