As Assistant Governor, Dr. Ma. Cyd Tuaño-Amador heads the Monetary Policy Sub-Sector (MPSS) of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the central bank of the Republic of the Philippines. The MPSS oversees the operations and functions of four core Departments in the BSP, namely, the Department of Economic Research (DER), the Department of Economic Statistics (DES), the Center for Monetary and Financial Policy (CMFP), and the Economic and Financial Learning Center (EFLC). She is a member of the Advisory Committee that recommends the monetary policy stance of the Monetary Board of the BSP. She also represents the Bank in various international and regional meetings as well as in various local inter-agency committees.

 

Dr. Amador was seconded by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas as Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund from 2003 to October 2006.

 

Dr. Amador holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics degree from the Australian National University. In addition to the Master of Policy Science degree she received from GRIPS’ predecessor, the Graduate School of Policy Science (GSPS) in 1988, she also obtained a master degree from the University of the Philippines School of Economics. She took up BS Business Economics at the UP School of Economics, graduating with honors.

 

Dr. Amador is married to Gil, and a mother to Gillian, Immanuel and Terence.
