- Professional Career
Mr. Oka, an Arabic speaking Japanese diplomat, entered Japanese Foreign Service in 1982 and served as Ambassador to Egypt (2021-24), Ambassador to Malaysia (2019-21) and Ambassador to Turkey (2016-17). He also served in Saudi Arabia, UK and US (New York). In Japan, He was Director-General for Intelligence and Analysis Service (2014-16) and Director-General of Middle East and Africa Affairs Bureau (2017-19) of MOFA.
Mr. Oka obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Faculty of Law at University of Tokyo in 1982 and his Master’s Degree, Middle East Area Study, from School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London in 1986.
