The 3rd FPCI-GRIPS Virtual Public Forum 2024

GRIPS is collaborating with FPCI (Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia) in convening the FPCI-GRIPS Public Forum, an open public webinar series where experts and policymakers can discuss the most pressing issues of international affairs and foreign policy with researchers and students across Southeast Asia and Japan.

The third FPCI-GRIPS public forum titled “The US Elections: How a Decision in America Can Send Waves to the Asia Pacific”

Background:

The United States has been a long-term partner for many Asia-Pacific countries. Under President Biden, the U.S. has maintained close relations with these nations through its Indo-Pacific strategy, which aims for a free and open Indo-Pacific. However, with Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, changes in America's regional approach are expected. The new administration will likely impact U.S. foreign policy, regional priorities, and future cooperation. Understanding the political, security, and economic policy changes that come with the new presidency is crucial for the region. A forum will be held to discuss how the election results will affect U.S. relations with the Asia-Pacific region.
