Abstract:

Focusing on the topic of ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific, Dr. Dino Patti Djalal explores ASEAN’s evolving perspective in the region and the challenges of upholding and maintaining ASEAN centrality. Drawing from the recent 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, Dr. Djalal provides insights into new developments within ASEAN and its engagement with QUAD. Dr. Djalal also shares his thoughts on the complex dynamics between ASEAN, the U.S., and China. This lecture offers an engaging exploration of the ever-changing regional landscape and the pivotal role of ASEAN within it.

Speakers’ Profile:

Dr. Dino Patti Djalal is the Founder and Chairman of Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI), which is the largest foreign policy group in Southeast Asia. He is an accomplished academic, foreign policy expert, and a career diplomat, having served in various key positions including as Ambassador to the United States (2010-2013) and Deputy Foreign Minister (2014). Now, Dr. Dino also serves as the Vice President of the Paris Peace Forum and Board Member of World Resources Institute Indonesia.
