Abstract:

The 2021 G7 Summit in UK agreed on the ambitious mission called “100 Days Mission” to have safe and effective vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics within 100 days of a future pandemic started.
As Japan hosts the next G7 Summit in 2023, Professor Keizo Takemi, Member of the House of Councillors initiated the Global Health Taskforce for Hiroshima G7 Summit to present recommendations to the Japanese government on global health.　As the vice chair of the Taskforce and the Chair of the 100 Days Mission Working Group, the speaker will talk on whether this mission is achievable, what are bottlenecks, how to overcome them, and what are Japan’s roles.

Speaker’s Profile:

Dr. Osamu Kunii, MD, Ph.D., MPH, is currently serving as CEO and Executive Director of the Global Health Innovative Technology Fund (GHIT), which promotes R&D of therapeutics, diagnostics and vaccines against infectious diseases. In the past 30 years he has been engaged in global health through the Global Fund, UNICEF, academia, Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other institutions.
He is leading the Working Group of 100 Days Mission in the Global Health Taskforce to G7 Summit to be hosted by Japan in 2023.

Since its establishment in 1997, the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), as the only graduate school in Japan specializing in policy research, has promoted education and research on a wide range of policy issues.
