Gender Bias in Parental Education Investment: Impacts on Fertility, Inequality and Human Capital development.

Leader

This project aims to study gender bias in educational investment in children and its effects on fertility, human capital development and economic growth. We first study how the parents’ gender bias in children’s education creates gender inequality and the consequences in terms of demographic changes (particularly fertility choice) and economic development. In the next stage, we will go deeper to the fundamental of the bias and investigate what polices may reduce the gender inequality in education. We will also discuss the policy implications to human capital accumulation and economic growth.
