The AI Skilling Training, “Human-Centered AI Workshop,” Was Held Online in Collaboration with Microsoft.
On January 26, 2026, an online AI skilling training program titled “Human-Centered AI Workshop” was conducted. This training was held as part of the academic exchange and collaboration between Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd. and GRIPS, and also contributed to our ongoing efforts to develop AI related skills and knowledge.
In this workshop, we welcomed Ms. Brittany Arthur of Design Thinking Japan, an official training partner of Microsoft Elevate※ as the instructor. Rather than viewing AI merely as a technology, the workshop introduced a human-centered AI framework that emphasizes identifying appropriate contexts for its use and linking AI applications to practical operations and policy development.
This workshop brought together international students currently studying at GRIPS, as well as alumni joining from Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe. During the interactive sessions, participants learned practical approaches to giving effective instructions to AI, while also deepening their understanding through active discussions and the exchange of ideas with fellow participants.

Feedback from attendees highlighted not only the value of learning a well-structured framework for AI utilization, but also the highly engaging, interactive, and psychologically safe atmosphere of the workshop. At the same time, participants expressed strong interest in follow-up training that would address more advanced topics, applications in specific fields, and themes such as security and compliance.
Reflecting this feedback, the workshop series will continue to offer ongoing learning opportunities that support the practical and effective use of AI in everyday professional practice.
A Japanese-language session of this training program was also conducted on Saturday, January 24. Please click here to view the report on the Japanese session.
