Professor Sagiri Kitao awarded Japanese Economic Review 2025 Best Article Award for her co-authored paper.
The Japanese Economic Review (JER), a quarterly journal entirely in English, is published by the Japanese Economic Association.
The JER Best Article Award is presented annually to the author(s) of the best article published in JER. In 2025, “Medical expenditures over the life-cycle: persistent risks and insurance,” co-authored by GRIPS Professor Sagiri Kitao and others, was selected for the Best Article Award.
Professor Sagiri Kitao specializes in macroeconomics. After graduating from the School of Political Science and Economics at Waseda University, in 1996, she joined The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. In 2007, she received a Ph.D. in Economics from New York University. After serving as assistant professor at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, and as a senior economist in Economic Research at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, she served as associate professor at the City University of New York, Hunter College. She later held professorships at Keio University and the University of Tokyo's Graduate School. She joined GRIPS In 2024.
