The American Jewish Committee (AJC) and GRIPS co-hosted a webinar on Japanese foreign policy on July 13, 2022 with the generous support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The webinar, which attracted about 50 participants, was moderated by Ms. Shira Loewenberg, Director of AJC’s Asia Pacific Institute.

GRIPS Prof. Narushige Michishita gave a presentation entitled, “Implications of the War in Ukraine for Security in the Indo-Pacific” in which he discussed the impact of Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine in the Indo-Pacific region, North Korean nuclear issue and Japan’s defense policy.

During the discussion session, participants raised questions about the influence of the Ukraine crisis on the Taiwan issue and Japan’s defense budget.
