The 14th Asian Statesmen’s Forum was held in Jakarta, Indonesia
The fourteenth Asian Statesmen’s Forum was held on August 28, 2016 in Jakarta, Indonesia. This year, 5 topics titled as the following: “The Current Situation, Political and Economic”, “Global Agenda”, “Regional Issue: Governance of the South China Sea”, “Present Situation and Challenges of the Controls on Campaign Funding”, and “Social Security System” were discussed.
As the host country of this forum, Mr. Bambang Brodjonegoro, the Minister for National Development Planning (BAPPENAS) and many Indonesian statesmen attended the meeting, in addition, members from Malaysia and Thailand were at the conference. From Japan, Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi, the former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and other statesmen were listed. Also, some GRIPS faculties attended the conference. Participants had an active exchange of opinions on their respective country’s political situation as well as global issues like terrorism and TPP, and also had discussions on regional issue of South China Sea, campaign funding and social security system. The conference finished in a lively discussion and it contributed to give the attendees a great opportunity to exchange different perspectives.
