CAMPUS Asia GRIPS-KDIS Special Lecture conducted at GRIPS

The CAMPUS Asia GRIPS-KDIS Special Lecture was conducted at GRIPS on Oct. 29, 2012. We welcomed Prof. Sang-woo Nam, Dean of KDI School (Korea) as a speaker. With about 35 GRIPS students and 14 faculty and staff members attending, Prof. Nam gave a lecture entitled “Development Consensus: a Korean Perspective.” In the lecture, Prof. Nam cast Korea’s development experience over the last half century against development consensus.

During the lively Q & A session, GRIPS students raised questions related to FDI, SMEs and education systems, among other topics. Of particular note, GRIPS Indonesian students asked questions about how people in SMEs developed and expanded their businesses, referring to Prof. Nam’s comments on why laid-off workers established their own enterprises after the Korean Economic Crisis.

After the lecture, Prof. Kwon Jung, Associate Dean of KDIS School, talked about the KDI School and the CAMPUS Asia program.
