On March 18, 2009, President Hatta received a high level delegation from the Indonesian National Police Headquarters. The delegation was led by Police Brigadier General Sunarno, who is currently the Head of the Strategic Policy Bureau of the National Policy Headquarters in Jakarta, Indonesia. Other delegates included Brigadier General Halba Rubis Nugroho, Brigadier General Surmana Yudhi, Kombes Adhi Sadnyana Putra, and 2 Japanese police officers.

GRIPS has been training Indonesian police officers since 2005 through the Young Leaders Program ・the fourth master’s candidate from the Indonesian police is currently being trained. As Japan’s leading policy research institution, GRIPS is honored to be the host for Indonesia’s police leaders, and be part of democratic Indonesia’s effort to develop civilian police.
