LEADING Asia Project Knowledge Co-creation Follow-up Online Meeting 2021

Since 2016, the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) has formed a consortium with leading universities, governmental human resources training organizations and other related organizations in the Asia-Pasific region and promoted international collaborative education in order to develop an unique Asian education model for developing public policy leaders in the region. As part of this, GRIPS hosted the Knowledge Co-creation Follow-up Online Meeting on March 23, 2021 to follow up the “Leadership Enhancement and Administrative Development for Innovative Governance in Asia Project” (LEADING Asia), which was conducted until FY2019 commissioned by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

In addition to the core members of the project from Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, Associate Professor Ayano Nishihara (Rikkyo University), Mr. Masaei Matsunaga (Governance and Peacebuilding Dept., JICA) , Vice President Professor Yokomichi (GRIPS), Professor Takada(GRIPS) and Professor Ono(GRIPS) attended from Japan.

 

The meeting was held in two parts, and in the first part, each country including Japan reported the LEADING Asia research results use situation and future planning for their human resource development in universities and other educational institutions as well as in local governments.

 

In the second part, the participants reported on the countermeasures and issues of COVID-19 in each country, and Professor Ono made a presentation on the case of Japan.

 

Finally, the participants discussed on leadership with COVID-19, and agreed to hold an annual follow-up meeting as a “Ba” (place/opportunity) for knowledge exchange and information sharing of research results.
