At GRIPS Forum on November 8, 2021, Dr. Noriko Arai, Director and Professor, Research Center of Community Knowledge, Information and Society Research Division, National Institute of Informatics / Director General, Institute of Science for Education, gave a lecture titled “Researchmap – a Platform for Science of Science Policy” (GRIPS Members Only Event) .

Abstract:

Japan’s Researcher Directory and Researcher Community Support Platform, researchmap, whose service was officially launched in 2010, released version 2 incorporating AI in 2020. More than 320,000 researchers use the platform, and over 40 million projects have been registered. In this speech, we will discuss the benefits of the country holding such a research platform in order to engage in the Science of Science Policy, and its usage, after introducing the concept and key features of researchmap ver. 2.

Speaker’s Profile:

Born in Tokyo, Noriko Arai earned a degree from the Hitotsubashi University School of Law, and then a mathematics degree from the University of Illinois and its Graduate School, and completed her doctorate at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Arai specializes in mathematical logic. Led the Todai Robot Project (Can a robot get into the University of Tokyo?) since 2011 as an AI grand challenge. Developed the Reading Skill Test, which diagnoses reading comprehension, since 2016. Led Researchmap Project as well. Author of AI vs Children who Can’t Read their Textbooks, Raising a Child who Doesn’t Lose to AI, and many others.
