Since he graduated from the GRIPS Public Policy Program in 2004, H.E. Dr. Pivithuru has held various positions, including Professor at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He assumed office as the 19th Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka on May 22, 2025.
Escorted by our current Sri Lankan students and a staff member, H.E. Dr. Pivithuru toured the campus, fondly recalling his days as a MEXT scholarship student, when he often engaged in discussions with classmates from around the world. After the tour, he met with the Sri Lankan students for about an hour. He listened attentively to their reports on their future goals and how the opportunities provided by GRIPS are helping them to sharpen their skills to become more deeply informed and more professionally capable. He then delivered a powerful message of encouragement, saying, “The sky is the limit. Use this opportunity to become well-rounded global leaders who can effectively contribute to international development.”
