Workshops of Macroeconomics and Policy

The workshops and the conferences of Macroeconomics and Policy have been very successful for 9 years. In this fiscal year, we organized several great workshops and the 9th  International Conference of Macroeconomics and Policy in Feb 2017, which marked the 2nd year of our academic corporation with Keio. We successfully invited many world famous researchers to the conference. The conference has built up its reputation and promoted GRIPS’ recognition at both domestic and international levels. It is one of the very few successful international academic conferences on macroeconomics and related public policy in Japan, and becomes well known by researchers in the field. We plan to continue the cooperation with Keio University in the next year. We also plan to explore additional international cooperation in Asia.

In addition to the conference, the workshops, which were organized throughout the year, focused on specific topics; this allowed more time for a clear presentation and a deep discussion. Workshop speakers were experts in related research fields. Some of them also developed joint research projects with our faculty members during their visits at GRIPS. We find this arrangement really encourages more research cooperation and promotes research atmosphere at GRIPS.

We would like to continue the workshops and the conference for the next year. As in the previous years, we plan to combine the budgets of a short-term and of a long-term conferences so that we can have enough resource to maintain the reputation and the quality.

  1. Encourage research cooperation with researchers in related fields.
  2. Learn successful experiences from world leading researchers in the fields.
  3. Promote GRIPS to the world and create international cooperation opportunities.
