My research interest is state institutions on economic development, with a focus on the developmental state model, industrial policy, public-private partnerships and other relevant mechanisms, policies, and measures for the government sector to attain constructive roles and engage with stakeholders in contributing to sustainable economic growth.
Before joining the Global Governance Program (G-cube) at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) with a JICA Scholarship, I received a Bachelor degree in political science and a Master degree in political economy from Chulalongkorn University, and have worked at the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Interior, the Ministry of Interior as a general administration officer.
I believed that the G-cube program can offer an interdisciplinary and holistic approach as well as a historical perspective for the study of public policy, while equipping me with strong analytical and leadership skills required for policy formulation and implementation, in addition to comprehensive theoretical and technical frameworks necessary for promoting innovation in the public sector and policy process. Furthermore, the program tutorial and seminar formats provide opportunities for exchanging practical case studies and lessons learned with fellow policy practitioners and academics, and facilitating the building of a valuable network of partners for responding to global challenges and achieving sustainable development.

I am a Ph.D. student in the G-cube Program at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Japan, supported by a JICA scholarship. My research interests include foreign direct investment, economic policy, and sustainable development -- areas I believe connect deeply with what we study and discuss here in G-cube.
Before joining GRIPS, I worked as a Deputy Director of Investment Aftercare at the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) under the Chief Adviser's Office in Bangladesh, where I was responsible for promoting and facilitating investments. My professional work involved investment aftercare, policy formulation, investment promotion, and regulatory reforms to enhance Bangladesh's competitiveness as an investment destination.
Under the MEXT-Young Leaders Program (YLP) scholarship, I graduated from Hitotsubashi ICS (Hitotsubashi University Business School) in Master of Business administration (MBA) in 2022, Japan. My MBA research examined opportunities under RCEP and its implications for Japan-China relations and other Asian economies. I received LLB and LLM from the University of Dhaka specialized in International Commercial Law in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
At GRIPS, I aim to deepen my understanding of investment policy, contribute to policy-oriented research, and promote sustainable growth through effective investment governance. It will also be a great opportunity to learn from GRIPS with collaborating on new ideas, and creating wonderful memories together -- both in and outside the classroom.

My research focuses on exploring Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs) and their impacts on economic development, drawing comparative lessons from experiences around the world. Through this study, I aim to examine how different countries have utilized SWFs to drive growth and to identify how developing economies can leverage these insights to accelerate their own development trajectories.
I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Global Governance (G-cube Program) at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Japan, under the sponsorship of the MEXT Scholarship. I also hold a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from GRIPS (2022), a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Management from Université Ibn Tofail, Kénitra, Morocco, and a Diploma in French from Université Mohammed V, Rabat, Morocco.
Professionally, I serve as a Senior Economics Officer at the Ministry of Finance, Ghana, specifically in the Public Debt Management Office, where I have worked since 2016. My responsibilities include coordinating and preparing the Annual Public Debt Report (APDR), conducting the Debt Sustainability Analysis (DSA), and developing the Medium-Term Debt Strategy (MTDS). I believe the G-cube program provides a unique platform to deepen my policy analysis and leadership skills. The strategic insights I gain will enhance my capacity to support the Ministry in designing and implementing evidence-based economic and fiscal policies that promotes sustainable development.

I am an afro-centric early career researcher and social scientist from Kenya interested in development and social issues facing developing countries. I am currently interested in issues facing pastoralists particularly the impact climate change on pastoral livelihoods. I intend to interrogate the effectiveness of interventions as well as the role of indigenous knowledge in helping pastoralists cope with climate shocks.
Prior to starting my PHD at GRIPS I worked as a policy analyst for the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), a government think tank that conducts policy research and analysis. In my four years at KIPPRA I participated in key research projects and published discussion papers and policy briefs, the main ones being the Public Affairs Index and Kenya Economic Report 2022. I also have previous experience working in other research institutions including Tegemeo Institute for Agriculture Policy and Development.
I have a master's degree in Research and Public Policy and bachelor's degree in Agribusiness Management both from Egerton University, Kenya. My bachelor's education sparked my interest in development issues in my country, while my master's education enlightened me on the importance of evidence driven policy making, and I believe my PHD education at GRIPS will deepen my application of research and data to inform decision making.
GRIPS not only has experienced and renowned professors, its network of researchers and practitioners that students can access through GRIPS forums and graduate seminars also provides a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary learning. GRIPS therefore presents an exciting opportunity to learn, think and will enable me to emerge as an expert in development issues.
