GRIPS had a three-day training program titled “The Training Program on Leadership Development” for Thai government executive officials. The program was requested by the Office of the Civil Service Commission（OCSC）in Thailand. It was held from September 11 to 13, 2018 and GRIPS welcomed 24 Thai participants. They are expected to be candidates for Bureau Director level positions, selected by OCSC.

During the program, Professor Emeritus Masahiro Horie (Director of the Executive Development Center for Global Leadership) gave lectures on “Good Governance, Government Reform and Innovation” and “Leadership for the 21st Century”. Thai participants have exchanged views and opinions on management and leadership at their offices and discussed similarities and differences between Japanese and Thai cases.

Participants visited the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) for the site-visit. At MIC, they learnt “Creating Innovative Workplace in Japan” as actual case practiced by Japanese governmental official.  They visited TEPCO Kawasaki Thermal Power Station. They learnt its latest technologies and environmental initiatives.

 On the final day of the training program, they had a wrap-up session presided over by Prof. Horie. At the completion ceremony, each participant received a certificate of completion of the course.
