Training of Trainer: Planning and Budgeting for BAPPENAS, Republic of Indonesia 2016

GRIPS conducted a two-week training program from July 18 to July 29, 2016 in response to the request from the National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) of Indonesia. 25 participants from BAPPENAS and faculty members of Indonesian universities have attended the program.

 

 During the program, participants attended lectures given by Program Director Masahiro Horie, (GRIPS Senior Professor and Director of the Executive Development Center for Global Leadership), and lectures given by GRIPS faculty members Professor Hirofumi Takada, Professor Hisayoshi Hashimoto, Professor Ikuo Shimomura, Professor Yonosuke Hara, Professor Hiroshi Ikawa, and  Professor Kenji Shimazaki. Lectures were also provided by Mr. Kenji Umetani, Adviser of the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) Cabinet Office, (former GRIPS Professor); Professor Hideaki Tanaka, Meiji University; Professor Hiroshi Nagano, Guest Professor, Keio University (former GRIPS Professor); and Prof. Hikaru Kobayashi, Keio University (former Administrative Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Environment).

 

The participants also had an opportunity to visit the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in Shinjuku and the Tokyo Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park in Ariake. At Bureau of Finance in Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Mr.Yasou Hayakawa kindly gave a briefing on budgeting and planning of Tokyo and responded to all the questions from Indonesian participants.

 

After having all the lectures and visits, workshop with two group discussions and plenary session were held on Planning and Budgeting.

 

On the final day of the training program, Professor Horie presided over a summary session. The program was completed happily after each participants received a certificate of completion at the closing ceremony.
