Special Symposium “Japan – China relations: what next?” was held at GRIPS

A special symposium on the topic “Japan – China relations: what next?” was held at GRIPS, inviting panelists Yoshikazu Kato (International columnist and Fellow at Harvard University Kennedy School of Government), Toshiya Tsugami (Representative of Tsugami Workshop, Modern China specialist & business consultant), Haiteng Chen (Chief Representative of Baidu, Inc. in Japan and Director of Baidu Japan, Inc.) and Ge Jin (Tokyo correspondent for Science and Technology Daily).  Mariko Oe (Announcer, TV Tokyo) acted as moderator and Atsushi Sunami (Associate Professor at GRIPS) as M.C.

Following a short keynote report on the current Japan-China relations by Mr. Kato and Mr. Tsugami, a panel discussion was held which ran for over 90 minutes, covering various topics including the panelist’s take on recent tensions.  A brief Q & A with the floor followed, where delicate questions were answered with frankness, concluding this meaningful symposium.
