Training Program for Myanmar Economic Development

In response to a request by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), GRIPS conducted a training program from December 5–9, 2011 for a group of Myanmar’s promising young leaders as a part of the Program for Myanmar Economic Development.

The 30-member delegation was from Myanmar’s ministries and central bank, and they visited GRIPS accompanied by JICA staff members. The first half of the week consisted first of lectures for all, and then the participants were divided into three small working groups on the themes of “Economy and Finance,” “Trade and Investment Promotion” and “Agricultural and Rural Development” for the rest of the lectures and site visits. Lectures were given by professors of GRIPS and experts from outside of GRIPS as well.

The completion ceremony was held at the Institute of JICA in Ichigaya on December 22, and each trainee was awarded a certificate of completion from Prof. Masahiro Horie, vice president of GRIPS.
