East Asian Public Sector Leadership Challenges for Thai Executives

GRIPS held a three-day training program titled “The Training Program on East Asian Public Sector Leadership Challenges” (EAPSLC) for Thai executives from May 10 to May 12, 2010. The program was developed by GRIPS in response to a request from the Office of the Civil Service Committee(OCSC)in Thailand. GRIPS welcomed 50 senior government officials selected by the Thai government.

Professor Horie (Director of the Program, Dean of International Affairs), Prof. Ota (Vice President of GRIPS), Prof. Hara (Senior Professor of GRIPS), and Prof. Tanaka (Professor Emeritus of Takushoku University) gave lectures. After that, the government officials participated in a GRIPS forum and listened to a speech from Mr. Toshihiko Fukui, former Governor of the Bank of Japan.

They visited the House of Representatives and the House of Councilors. They made a short trip to Nagatacho, Kasumigaseki, the Imperial Palace and the Otemachi areas to see the centers of politics, public administration and economy in Japan.

On the last day of the training program, they had a wrap-up session presided over by Prof. Horie and Prof. Hara. At the completion ceremony, each participant received a certificate of completion of the course from Prof. Horie.
