On 28 April 2010, Prof. Keijiro Otsuka has received the Medal with Purple Ribbon, which is an award given to individuals with outstanding achievements in academics, research, the arts and sports, etc. Professor Otsuka is the Director for our International Development Studies Program, as well as the Project Leader for our Global Center of Excellence Program, “The Transferability of East Asian Development Strategies and State Building.”
Professor Otsuka commented on receiving the award by saying “Being 61 years old now, most of my research peers have left research, whereas I have redoubled my research output for the past 7 years, working on the 21st Century COE and Global COE programs and progress in these COE programs likely contributed to my receiving this award.”
