On 10 June 2009, a six-member delegation including Sejong Foundation Chairman and former Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs Roh-Myung Gong visited GRIPS for informal talks with GRIPS President Tatsuo Hatta and other GRIPS personnel.

In these talks, Chairman Gong described the current situation at the Sejong Foundation and the Sejong Institute and outlined future plans, noting that they hoped to further deepen their exchange with GRIPS. President Hatta suggested further consultations to discuss what kind of exchange might be possible. East Asian security and economic issues were also discussed.
