On February 2, 2012, the GRIPS・JBIC Joint Forum was held at the Sokairo Hall of GRIPS. It was entitled “After Fire and Flood: Thailand’s Prospects”.The forum featured Dr. Pasuk Phongpaichit (Professor, Chulalongkorn University) and Dr. Chris Baker (Visiting Research Fellow, Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University) as speakers, Dr. Yonosuke Hara（ Senior Professor, GRIPS）as a moderator and Mr. Toshiro Nishizawa（Head of Country Credit Department at the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC)）as a discussant.

A presentation was made by the two speakers describing the background and current situation of the political conflict faced by Thailand, as well as the necessity for enhancing infrastructure in the wake of the recent massive flood that inundated large areas of Thailand, followed by a panel discussion.Lastly the audience asked questions, and many points were discussed.
