abstract:

While there has been a wide range of regional cooperation programs implemented in the dynamically growing, geopolitically important Mekong region, the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) economic cooperation program conceptualized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has won particular praise as being the most successful. Here a key person from the ADB who worked on implementing the GMS concept on the ground in the Mekong area tells us about the knowledge required to launch the GMS economic area, implement the project and guide it to success, as well as what the future holds for the GMS.
