The 151st GRIPS Forum “For Peace and Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula”

At the 151st GRIPS Forum on 28 May, 2018, His Excellency Mr. LEE Su Hoon, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea, gave a lecture titled “For Peace and Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula”.

abstract:

Peaceful resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue is an essential step not only
to ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula, but also to pursue stability on Northeast
Asia and the global community. Recently, the escalating tension on the Korean Peninsula
is entering a period of transition. This lecture aims to find what can be done to settle
denuclearization and peace on the Korean Peninsula amidst the rapid change of situation.

Speakers’ Profile:

H.E. Lee Su Hoon is Korean Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Japan. He started his career as a professor in Kyungnam University in March 1987. His study and career mainly aims at peace on Northeast Asia and North Korean issues. He was a Director for Institute for Far Eastern Studies in Kyungnam University since February 2009. He was a Chairman for the Subcommittee for Foreign Affairs and Security, State Affairs Planning Advisory Committee in 2017. In October 2017, he assumed his position as Korean Ambassador to Japan.
