Special GRIPS Forum 28th May “Asian Economic Outlook and Roles of ADB”

  • Abstract

President Nakao will discuss the economic situations and outlook for Asia, as well as
the responses to policy challenges of Asian developing countries including India and Indonesia.
The lecture will include eight key conditions for economic development and the roles of
Asian Development Bank (ADB) in promoting regional growth and development.
President Nakao will address the ADB’s reform efforts to fulfill its roles, such as enhancing
lending capacity and streamlining procurement procedures.

 

Speakers’ Profile: Mr. Takehiko Nakao

Current Status: President and Chairperson, Board of Directors, Asian Development Bank

Past Experience :

Mr. Takehiko Nakao was appointed President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Chairperson of ADB’s Board of Directors in April 2013.

 

Before joining ADB, Mr. Nakao served as Japan’s Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs and, previously, Director-General of the Ministry’ International Bureau. He has also held high level positions with the Embassy of Japan in Washington D.C. and the International Monetary Fund, and has published extensively on financial and economic issues.

 

Mr. Nakao was born in 1956 and is married with two sons. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Tokyo and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.
