At the 80th GRIPS Forum on June 24, 2013, H.E. Dr. Charles Murigande, Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to Japan, gave a lecture titled “Rwanda: From Hopelessness to Hopefulness.” Ambassador Murigande talked about the circumstances surrounding the genocide against the Tutsis in 1994, and how the country rebuilt itself in just 19 years.
