■Abstract: Nowadays, taking advantage of healthcare ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is greatly expected for the medical development. Japan is trying to take proactive approach in this issue, aiming to make better use of the health resource. As is well known, Estonia is one of the most advanced countries in terms of ICT utilization to not only health care delivery and medical research, but also other fields. At this symposium, we will invite professor Peeter Ross (Tallinn University of Technology), an outstanding healthcare ICT developer in Estonia to share the Estonian experiences with healthcare ICT utilization. Based on the keynote speech given by Professor Ross, a constructive discussion on the challenges and future direction of the healthcare ICT introduction in Japan is to be expected.
