The Japan-Vietnam Economist Club (JVEC) was launched by Professor Tran Van Tho (Waseda Univ.) and Professor Kenichi Ohno (GRIPS) together with Vietnamese people studying business and economics in Japan, to provide information exchange service and enhance the research capacity of the Vietnamese students. 
JVEC will conduct monthly workshops and publish research and policy proposals in Japan and Vietnam in order to improve Vietnam's economic policy.

Motorbike-Week at VDF in Hanoi
The Motorbike Workshop was held at VDF during the week of 6-10 Sep 2004. JVEC sent Mr Hoang (Yokohama National Univ.) and Mr Mishima (Tohoku Univ.) for the workshop. More

Vietnam will develop only if....
Vietnam Economic Times (English, Jan. 2004, pp.14-15) featured Prof. K Ohno's article, "The Lucky Country," which argues that Vietnam has conditions for growth, especially good labor, but is prevented by bad management and policy failure. Published version is almost the same as draft (Word 37KB). Also read pp.12-13.
