Library Resources


Because all the library’s materials, with the exception of special materials like CD-ROMs and microforms, are in the open stacks, library users are expected to freely find, use and photocopy these materials.
Return materials you do not intend to borrow to their original location or place them on the Book Return Carts after finishing.

Books


Classified according to the below categories, located in the specified sections.
Books with red label cannot be taken out of the library.


Textbooks Section

* Collection available within the library.

Books assigned by professors for course studies are arranged by the Call No. (spine label numbers).
Some textbooks have a few extra copies in the general books section.
Copy materials are arranged by course name in each term.
Please search the Online Catalog or refer to the Textbook List.


Collected Books Section

Please check the Online Catalog to find the titles, locations and call no. (spine label no.) of collected books such as Foundation for Advanced Studies on International Development (FASID) Books Section, WCO Books Section and so on.


GRIPS faculty publications

Select publications authored by the GRIPS faculty members from 2005 are exhibited at the library entrance.
Also GRIPS Discussion Papers are displayed.
Check them out via the Online Catalog selected "Location: Faculty publications".

Featured books section

Books related the GRIPS events or the current topics are exhibited at the library entrance.
Check them out via the Online Catalog selected "Location: Featured Books".

Collection of dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, maps, white papers and statistical materials arranged by the Call No. (spine label numbers) for reference purposes only.


General Books

* Standard circulation books may be borrowed for 1 month.

Books are arranged by the Call No. (spine label numbers), mixed together in English, Japanese and other languages in the electric bookshelves of the General Books Section.
To find books and their shelf locations, please check the Call Number by searching on the online catalog (OPAC) in advance.

Freely access the journals shelved alphabetically and chronologically in the Journal Section.


Bulletins

Bulletins published by universities and institutions in Japan are arranged by name of university in Japanese syllable order.

In addition to the printed materials that the library subscribes to and holds, please utilize the electronic resources of online journals available only inside GRIPS.
Added subscriptions of online journals will be announced in Library News.

Newspapers

Newspapers are placed in the Newspaper Racks.

International Herald Tribune
The New York Times, Eastern edition (issued on weekdays and Sundays)
Financial Times

Newspapers are kept for two months on the magazine racks in the Newspaper Racks.


Newspapers in Reduced-Sized Editions


Back issues of The Japan Times are also available in reduced-sized editions shelved in the open stacks.
