Professor Rhodes' current research focuses on the interplay of wealth, liquidity, and credit with particular emphasis on the “liquidity sump” interpretation of Japan′s Great Stagnation. A long-term project concerns the postwar evolution of Japan′s system of financial and macroeconomic regulation and the associated changes in macroeconomic performance. Another long-standing interest is the “Keynesian Paradox,” the apparent inconsistency of involuntary unemployment with general equilibrium.
