- Holds B.Sc. in Mathematics from the Madras
University, 1968; M.Sc. in Mathematical
Economics from the Madurai University, 1970; and
M.Litt. in Econometrics from the Madurai
University, 1973. Has been a Senior Fellow in
the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies
at the Australian National University,
1995-2002. He has taught in the Department of
Economics at the Australian National University,
National University of Singapore, International
University of Japan, University of the
Philippines and Madurai University. He received
a special commendation award from the Indian
Econometric Society for his outstanding work in
frontier production function analyses, 1994. He
has several research publications and authored
and co-authored a number of books. He holds
lifetime membership of the Indian Econometric
Society and the Economic Society of
Singapore.

particularly East Asia; Trade among the member
countries of the Indian Ocean Rim-Association for
Regional Cooperation; Impact of Indian economic
reforms on the performance of the Indian
economy.
