At GRIPS Forum on 2 December, 2019, Ms. Shoko Sasaki, Commissioner of the Immigration Services Agency, gave a lecture titled “Acceptance of Foreign Nationals and Achievement of Harmonious Coexistence”.

abstract:

The government of Japan amended the “Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act” pertaining to the acceptance of new foreign nationals with the aim of responding to the growing labor shortages in Japan and established the status of residence of “Specified Skilled Worker”. This lecture introduces the preparation of an environment for the acceptance of foreign nationals in addition to past efforts pertaining to the acceptance of new foreign nationals by the immigration authorities.
