Ph. D. Candidate Seminar

Aim

This seminar provides Ph. D. candidates with an opportunity to present their research plans or ongoing research and to exchange ideas with the GRIPS faculty and students of various disciplines. It should be noted that this seminar is not a thesis defense for their Ph. D. degree but rather a casual opportunity for discussion to develop and improve their ideas and research output. Thus, while all Ph. D. students in the Public Policy Program are required to make a presentation in this seminar, they are not graded or do not earn any credit.

Style

The seminar usually consists of a 40 minute presentation followed by a 20 minute Q&A session.
Ph. D. program students are supposed to attend the seminar as much as possible while inviting the GRIPS faculty.
No registration is needed.

Prerequisites and Procedures for Presentation

Presenters must have passed their QE. Students who want to have a presentation at the Ph. D. candidate seminar must contact his/her supervisor first and ask the Academic Support Team (astgrips.ac.jp) for scheduling.
